South Vietnam
Socialist Republic of Vietnam

DALAT
Dalat was founded around the turn of the century, as a mountain retreat from the oppressive tropical climate. The town is perched 1,500 meters above sea level in Vietnam's central highlands and is home to pristine mountain streams, lakes and pine forests.

Dalat is a popular Vietnamese honeymoon destination and with it's cool climate attracts foreign tourists. It is a pleasant little town with many old colonial buildings and the cool climate invites for beautiful walks in the area.

Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet is a small pleasant costal town and has become a popular weekend beach destination as it can easily be reached from Ho Chi Minh City by car.

International accommodation is available along the coast from Phan Thiet to Mui Ne Beach, the nicest beach in this area, which is famous for its beautiful sand dunes.

Ho Chi Minh City
Formerly known as Saigon, this bustling city is the largest town of Vietnam and the economic center of the country.

The city has an eclectic architectural style; restored colonial classics stand side-by-side with brand new developments, traditional temples sit next door to sixties-style, American-influenced architecture and amongst all that you find of course as well the Stalinist concrete monstrosities that blight all major Socialist cities.

It is an attractive and colorful travel destination and offers something for everyone. It is a modern city with the hassle of the fast every day life yet within that can the beauty of the ancient culture be found everywhere.

Cu Chin Tunnels
The tunnel network of Cu Chi became legendary during the Vietnam War when it facilitated the Viet Congs to control a large area on enemy ground. The tunnels were build over a period of 25 years and were around 250km long. The underground network provided sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals and social centers. The tunnels are between 0.5 to 1 m wide, with just enough space for a person to crawl through.

Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam and renowned for it's richness and cultivations. Here, the famous Mekong River spreads into many arms before he flows into the South China Sea. The Delta consists of many islands and the best way to discover this area is by traveling through the many channels in a traditional long tail boat. There are many floating markets and a visit to the Delta is a nice and colourful experience.

The main cities in the Delta are Mytho, Can Tho and Chau Doc on the Cambodian Border.
