Day 1 Arrival - Hanoi
Morning arrival at Hanoi Airport. The elegant capital of Vietnam is also called the "Paris of the Orient". Hanoi's center is an architectural museum with its old colonial buildings, broad tree-lined boulevards and beautiful lakes. Transfer to your hotel. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will enjoy a cyclo (bicycle trishaw) tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter, an intriguing and colorful maze of alleys where commercial life thrives. We will then visit Ngoc Son Temple on the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 2 Hanoi
Breakfast. This morning we will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday & the months of October through November) and his former residence, a house built on stilts. Constructed in 1958, this is the house from which Ho Chi Minh directed the Vietnam War. Next we will visit the One Pillar Pagoda, a tiny shrine where couples make offerings when they want to have a child, and the Ethnology Museum, which gives a very interesting overview of the many different tribes in Vietnam. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will continue our discovery of Hanoi with the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's oldest institution of higher education, founded in the 11th century. Next we will visit the Fine Art Museum where we can see some very intricate sculptures, paintings, lacquerware, ceramics and other traditional Vietnamese fine arts. This evening enjoy a Water Puppet Show, a unique Vietnamese traditional art. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 3 Hanoi - Hue
Breakfast. This morning transfer to Hanoi Domestic Airport for departure flight to Hue. Hue is the ancient imperial city of Vietnam and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. Hue is famous for it's imperial architectural treasures from it's glorious days and is beautifully located on the shores of the Perfume River. This morning we will visit the Imperial Citadel, which dates back to the 18th century. Within the Citadel is the Imperial Enclosure where all the official functions took place and the Forbidden Purple City which was for the personal use of the Emperor only. Vietnam was ruled from this city until 1945, unfortunately most of the ancient city was destroyed during the War but the remains are proof of the glorious past. Each ruler of the Imperial City built his own tomb during his reign and we will visit the most extravagant of the mausoleums. Late morning we will visit the Tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh which has an unique European touch and Tu Duc Tomb, the largest and most impressive of all tombs. Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon we will make a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest place for religious worship in Hue. This 21m-high tower is one of the most famous structures in Vietnam. We will then continue by boat to the Minh Mang Tomb, which is renowned for its architecture. Late afternoon return to your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hue.

Day 4 Hue - Danang - Hoi An
Breakfast. This morning we will travel by car along the coast to Danang & Hoi An. The scenic 4-hour drive via the Hai Van pass offers spectacular views of the mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages. In Danang we will visit the Cham Museum with a great collection of ancient sculptures from the Kingdom of Champa. We continue further south to the charming historic city of Hoi An. Lunch at local restaurant.
Early afternoon arrival in Hoi An and check in to your hotel. Frequented by Western merchants, Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. The narrow streets of Hoi An have a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roof houses; the original structure of some of these streets is still virtually intact. Many of the houses were constructed of rare timber and decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters and pillars carved with ornamental designs. We will first enjoy a cyclo tour through the ancient city. After that we will make a leisurely walking tour on foot to visit some of the historic merchant houses and places of worship. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hoi An.

Day 5 Hoi An - Danang - Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast. Transfer to DanangAirport and departure with domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. This bustling city is the largest town of Vietnam and the economic center of the country. The city has kept a French touch from the colonial days and has plenty to offer. Transfer to your hotel and lunch.

This afternoon we will discover the city and visit Thien Hau Pagoda, the War Museum and the former Presidential Palace. We will then walk through the old part of town and visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and the impressive Post Office. Our way back will take us trough the main commercial area and we can stop at one of the many Art Galleries or other shops. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 6 Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast. This morning we will make a walking tour through China Town, This is a great way to observe the daily life of the Vietnamese people and there are many shops with interesting merchandise on sale! Along the way we will visit an old Chinese Temple and after that continue by cyclo to the busy market in China Town. We will then visit Giam Lac Pagoda, the oldest Temple in Ho Chi Minh. ItThis is a Buddhist pagoda with aspects of Taoism and Confucianism, a mix of religions very typical to Vietnam. Lunch at local restaurant.

Afternoon at leisure to further explore the city. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

This afternoon we will drive out of the City to Cu Chi and visit the amazing complex of underground tunnels. There are more than 200 km of underground tunnels, comprising a main axis system with many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters and other tunnels.

Time permitting we will continue to Tay Ninh, the center of the Cao-Dai religion. This religion was founded in 1926, and is a combination of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. We will visit the colorful temple and then return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 7 Ho Chi Minh City - Departure
Breakfast. Morning transfer to Ho Chi Minh Airport. Departure with international flight.
