Day 1 Arrival - Hanoi
Morning arrival at Hanoi Airport. The elegant capital of Vietnam is also called "Paris of the Orient". Hanoi's center is an architectural museum with its old colonial buildings, broad tree-lined boulevards and beautiful lakes. Transfer to your hotel. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will enjoy a cyclo (bicycle trishaw) tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter, an intriguing and colorful maze of alleys where commercial life thrives. We will then visit Ngoc Son Temple on the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 2 Hanoi
Breakfast. This morning we will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday & the months of October through November) and his former residence, a house built on stilts. Constructed in 1958, this is the house from which Ho Chi Minh directed the Vietnam War. Next we will visit the One Pillar Pagoda, a tiny shrine where couples make offerings when they want to have a child, and the Ethnology Museum, which gives a very interesting overview of the many different tribes in Vietnam. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will continue our discovery of Hanoi with the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's oldest institution of higher education, founded in the 11th century. Next we will visit the Fine Art Museum where we can see some very intricate sculptures, paintings, lacquerware, ceramics and other traditional Vietnamese fine arts. This evening, enjoy a Water Puppet Show, a unique Vietnamese traditional art. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 3 Hanoi - Bat Trang - Haiphong
Breakfast. Morning at leisure. Lunch at local restaurant. Proceed to Bat Trang Pottery village. This famous village is situated approx.15 kilometers outside of Hanoi, surrounded by fertile farmland. Watch the artisans form, paint and glaze their products, which are then baked for several days in huge kilns. We continue our drive to Haiphong and check in to our hotel. Accommodation at Hotel, Haiphong.

Day 4 Haiphong - Cat Ba - Halong Bay - Hanoi
Breakfast. This morning we will travel by speedboat from Haiphong pier to Cat Ba Island (approx. 1 hour). We will then board a wooden junk and cruise through the famous Halong Bay, which is listed as a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. "Dragon descending to the sea" as it is known in Vietnamese, picturesque Halong Bay has more than 1,000 limestone islets rising from the sea, many of them containing beautiful grottoes. A fresh seafood lunch is prepared and served on board. Early afternoon we arrive in Halong City and drive back to Hanoi (approx. 3 hours) and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hanoi.

Day 5 Hanoi - Hue
Breakfast. This morning transfer to Hanoi Domestic Airport for departure flight to Hue. Hue is the ancient imperial city of Vietnam and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. Hue is famous for it's imperial architectural treasures from it's glorious days and is beautifully located on the shores of the Perfume River. This morning we will visit the Imperial Citadel, which dates back to the 18th century. Within the Citadel is the Imperial Enclosure where all the official functions took place and the Forbidden Purple City which was for the personal use of the Emperor only. Vietnam was ruled from this city until 1945, unfortunately most of the ancient city destroyed during the War but the remains are proof of the glorious past. Lunch at local restaurant.

Each ruler of the Imperial City built his own tomb during his reign and we will visit the most extravagant of the mausoleums. This afternoon we will visit the Tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh which has an unique European touch and Tu Duc Tomb, the largest and most impressive of all tombs. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hue.

Day 6 Hue - Danang - Hoi An
Breakfast. This morning we will make a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest place for religious worship in Hue. This 21m-high tower is one of the most famous structures in Vietnam. We will then continue by boat to the Minh Mang Tomb, which is renowned for its architecture. Return to your hotel and check-out. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will travel by car along the coast to Danang & Hoi An. The scenic 4-hour drive via the Hai Van pass offers spectacular views of the mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages. In Danang we will visit the Cham Museum with a great collection of ancient sculptures from the Kingdom of Champa. We continue further south to the charming historic city of Hoi An. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Hoi An.

Day 7 Hoi An
Breakfast. Known to early Western merchants, Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoi An has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roof houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets is still virtually intact. Many of the houses were constructed of rare timber and decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters and pillars carved with ornamental designs. We will first enjoy a cyclo tour through the ancient city. After that we will make a leisurely walking tour on foot to visit some of the historic merchant houses and places of worship. Lunch at your hotel.
Afternoon at leisure to further explore the charming city of Hoi An or to relax on the beach. Dinner at local restaurant.

Day 8 Hoi An - Danang - Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast. This morning transfer to Danang Airport. Departure with domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. This bustling city is the largest town of Vietnam and the economic center of the country. The city has kept a French touch from the colonial days and has plenty to offer. Transfer to your hotel and lunch.

This afternoon we will discover the city and visit Thien Hau Pagoda, the War Museum and the former Presidential Palace. We will then walk through the old part of town and visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and the impressive Post Office. Our way back will take us trough the main commercial area and we can stop at one of the many Art Galleries or other shops. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 9 Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho
Pick up at your hotel and transfer to the Mekong Delta. The Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam and renowned for it's richness and cultivations. The famous Mekong River spreads here into many arms before he flows into the South China Sea and we will discover this beautiful area by traveling by boat on the river. Our drive to Cai Be takes approximately 3 hours. Lunch at local restaurant.

This afternoon we will make a boat trip and visit a bonsai garden, a fruit orchard and walk along the river through some peaceful villages. Late afternoon continue by car to Can Tho and transfer to hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Can Tho.

Day 10 Can Tho - Cai Rang - Soc Trang - Can Tho
Breakfast. This morning we board our boat again and visit the Cai Rang floating market where rowers carefully balance longboats loaded with fruits and vegetables. This is a great experience and it is fascinating to see the busy market scenery on the river. During our cruise we will also stop to see the local fabrication of rice paper, pop-rice, and rice husking. We will then travel by car to Soc Trang. Lunch en route.
This afternoon we will visit Bat Pagoda, Clay Pagoda and Khmer Museum with old artifacts from the region. In the afternoon return to Can Tho. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Can Tho.

Day 11 Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast. This morning drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Lunch at local restaurant.
This afternoon we will make a walking tour through China Town, This is a great way to observe the daily life of the Vietnamese people and there are many shops with interesting merchandise on sale! Along the way we will visit an old Chinese Temple and after that continue by cyclo to the busy market in China Town. We will then visit Giam Lac Pagoda, the oldest Temple in Ho Chi Minh. It is a Buddhist pagoda with aspects of Taoism and Confucianism, a mix of religions very typical to Vietnam. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 12 Ho Chi Minh City - Departure
Breakfast. Free at leisure until transfer to Ho Chi Minh Airport. Departure with international flight.
