Day 1 Bangkok - Phitsanuloke
Morning departure for Bangkok Central Railway Station to board a
sprinter air-conditioned second class day train to Phitsanuloke,
you can enjoy the scenery of the countryside along the way. Upon
arrival in Phitsanuloke you will be met by our German speaking guide
and transferred by air-conditioned coach to the Topland Hotel for
check-in and lunch. In the afternoon we shall visit Wat Phra Sriratana
Mahathad temple. Overnight accommodation in Phitsanuloke.
Day 2 Phitsanuloke - Sukhothai - Sri Satchanalai
American breakfast at the hotel, and depart for Lampang en route
we shall stop in Sukhothai, an ancient kingdom, to visit Wat Phra
Mahatad, Wat Sri Choom and the national museum before continuing
our journey to Sri Satchanalai to visit Wat Chang Lom and Wat Chedi
Jet Taew. We arrive in Lampang in the late afternoon and check-in
at your hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 3 Lampang - Phayao - Chiang Rai
Begin the day with a short city tour of Lampang, and then continue
to Chiang Rai where we shall check-in at your hotel prior to taking
a cruise on a long-tailed boat on the Mae Kok River to visit a Black
Muser hill tribe village. We return to the hotel via Samlors (tricycle).
Day 4 Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai
Today we shall visit Yao and Egaw hill tribe villages, and then
continue to Mae Sai the northern most point of Thailand, and the
infamous Golden Triangle at the junction of Thailand, Burma and
Laos on the Mekong River. We then take the winding road through
the mountains of the north to the northern capital of Chiang Mai,
the Rose of the North. Overnight accommodation in Chiang Mai.
Day 5 Chiang Mai - Trekking
After a good breakfast in the hotel we shall go by truck to Sanpatong
district of Chiang Mai to visit a local market. Lunch will be taken
at a Meo hill tribe village before we trek for 2 hours to an elephant
camp, where we shall mount these elephants for a 1 ½ hour
elephant trek through the jungle. We continue on foot for 2 more
hours to a Karen Village where we shall stop for the night. Our
guide and the villagers will cook you dinner before you retire for
the night into a bamboo hut - dormitory style.

Day 6 Trekking - Chiang Mai
After breakfast in the jungle, we shall trek for 2 hours from the
Karen village to the river rafting camp, where we shall enjoy a
bamboo-rafting trip taking you down stream. After your 2-hour journey
we shall take lunch at a local restaurant. Continuing by truck to
a waterfall for a refreshing bath in the pool, and off by truck
to Doi Inthanon - the highest peak in Thailand to visit the sacred
stupa on the top before returning to Chiang Mai and civilization,
overnight accommodation in Chiang Mai.
Day 7 Chiang Mai
We are pretty sure you will enjoy your American breakfast today!
Well it is time we visited some of the sights in this lovely northern
capital. We shall begin with a visit to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep,
one of the most sacred temples in Chiang Mai situated on a mountain
looking which commands a fantastic view of Chiang Mai town down
below. Back down to town and visit Wat Chedi Luang, the site of
a formerly massive pagoda that was destroyed in the great earthquake
of 1545 followed by Wat Phra Singh a temple of traditional northern
Thai style architecture dating back to 1385. Lunch will be provided
at a local restaurant prior to continuing our tour to the Handicraft
Village. This is an excellent opportunity to visit some artisans'
workshops to observe the creation of Chiang Mai's most famous products.
They can also be purchased of course. Included are celadon, pottery,
umbrellas, silver and wood carvings, paper-making and silk and cotton
weaving. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 8 Chiang Mai - Bangkok
Breakfast at the hotel and your are free at leisure until time to
check-out at 12 noon. Transfer out.
