3 Days / 2 Nights - Tour
Unknown Northwest - Mae Hong Son
Kingdom of Thailand
A rather out of the way place because of the mountain
terrain, and because of this, the town was once isolated from the
outside world due to lack of good transportation and communication.
Even today driving there is an experience in itself, but don't that
deter you for there are daily flights operating between Chiang Mai
and Mae Hong Son. Once there you will find a rather small provincial
capital of 7000 persons interesting to say the least, for there
is a strong Burmese influence in the capital's buildings and temples.
Day 1 Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Son
Depart Chiang Mai by minibus to Mae Hong son via Pai. Enroute make
a short stop at a hot spring at Ban Papae. Then continue to drive
to Pai and visit a Lisu Village, here you will have an inside look
into their daily life. Afterwards drive to the Water Cave, Tam Lod,
a large limestone cave with a wide stream running through it. Tam
Lod is one of the two local caves which happen to be the largest.
Besides the main chamber there are three side chambers that can
be reached by ladder, it takes two or three hours to see the whole
thing. After enjoying your lunch box, we will visit the Lahu Village,
one of the Tibeto-Burmese Hilltribes, then drive to Mae Hong Son,
along the way visiting a Fish Cave, where thousands of carps live
an undisturbed life. Dinner and overnight in Mae Hong Son.
Day 2 Mae Hong Son
After breakfast, take a long-tail boat cruise on the Pai River,
changing transport to an elephant through unspoiled jungle to the
suspension bridge. Afterwards take a car to visit the hilltribe
village of the long-necked-women, the Padongs. The women of this
tribe from an early age on have brass rings put around their necks
making them appear as if they have long necks. Return to Mae Hong
Son for lunch at a local restaurant, and the remainder of the afternoon
is at leisure. In the evening we will have dinner at a local restaurant
and a stroll around the night market.
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 Depart Mae Hong Son
After breakfast we take a relaxed hike to a waterfall, nestled in
the peaceful forest with thousand of palms, fern and wild orchids.
We then head back to town to visit Wat Doi Kong Moo, Wat Chong Kam
and Wat Chong Klang, before transferring to Mae Hong Son Airport
and your late afternoon flight back to Chiang Mai.
