Kingdom of Thailand

Day 1 Bangkok - Kanchanaburi - River Kwai
An English-speaking guide from the Resotel will pick you up at your hotel at approximately 06.00 am. The trip to the provincial capital Kanchanaburi , 130 km west of Bangkok , takes about 2.5 hours . Kanchanaburi is the site of the world famous Bridge over The River Kwai , immortalized in books and movies . It was built by prisoners of War during World War II and was part of the Death Railway linking Thailand with Myanmar. Visit the JEATH Museum of War. The bamboo hut has been constructed in the form of a prisoner of war camp, contains photographic, pictorial and physical memorabilia dating from World War II. Kanchanaburi has several well-kept cemeteries. The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery contains the remains of almost 7000 allied prisoners of war who perished during the construction of the Bridge and the Death Railway . Highlight of the day will be a ride on this notorious train to Nam Tok , the Waterfall Station , passing one of Thailand's most idyllic and beautiful landscapes . After lunch in a local restaurant and a short ride on the Kwai Noi River by longtailboat, you will reach the Resotel , a small jungle retreat, in a unique setting, with magnificent mountain and river views. Later in the afternoon you will visit a nearby Mon Tribal Village . Getting to this magical place is half the fun . It will be an exciting 30 - minute boatride through spectacular gorges and passing lush forests as you venture deeper into the wild heart of the jungle. Walking through the Mon Village will give you a glimpse of the culture and daily life activities of this tribe. If you are daring enough, you can also do an elephant ride through the bamboo forest (at additional costs). Back at the Resotel, dinner will be served, followed by cultural performances of the Mons that you have already got familiar with earlier that day. Accommodation at Resotel .
Lunch, Dinner

Day 2 River Kwai
After an American Breakfast, get ready for a day of relaxation and pampering. Thailand has a long history of healing culture. Much of it was imported over 2.500 years ago from China and India , to be then embellished and blended with local habits . Traditional healing has always sought to treat the whole person - body , mind and spirit. History of course brought changes. The biggest threat to traditional ways came with the introduction of modern techniques. Only recent years have brought a resurgence in interest in the old ways. Pushed to the edge by modern stresses, people seek once more that inner balance and harmony, looking deeper than the treating of symptoms alone fore a more holistic approach. The Resotel has all the right ' ingredients ' to lift up your soul and rejuvenate your body. First relax with a Thai style solar bath followed by a walk through the herbal and horticultural garden of the resort to pick up fresh herbal plants. Then, after a delicious and healthy lunch enjoy a Royal Thai Traditional Massage. Masters versed in healing formerly administered the traditional Thai Massage only in temple grounds. By force on pressure points, muscles and ligaments, stretching and bending manipulations done by professional Thai therapists, the spine is elongated and relieved of tension, joints stretched and the whole body decompressed. After the massage and a Herbal Steam Bath you will feel completely relaxed and be looking forward to the dinner served at the resort . Accommodation at Resotel.
